Status of Climate Smart Small Ruminant Production Practices in Kwara State, Nigeria

This study examined the status of climate smart small ruminant production practices in Kwara State, Nigeria. About 105 breeders were selected for study. The data analysed use frequency count, percentage, mean score, Binary Logistic Regression and Pearson product moment correlation. result revealed that about 60% females years experience was 7 years. most frequently used respondents showed provision medication to sick animals cultivation crops along with rearing (90.5%), feeding supplementary feeds, isolation vaccination (92.4%); shade through Planting trees reduce heat stress (93.3%); crop residues building maintenance pens (96.2%) grazing on pasture/grassland (97.1%). 90.5% have high practices. Disease outbreak mortality (mean=2.07) highest ranked factors affecting breeders. educational level (B=3.985), membership social group (B=6.083), access extension services (B= 13.941) -0.544) determinant ruminants therefore recommends should be provided veterinary services.
